Today in clinic we went over the instruments which I think it is going to take me a little while to get them down. My Goal is to have them down by heart. I also want to go over the words and say them right.

Today in clinic we when over explorers. It was not to bad. I need to keep in mind not to hold the insturment so tight. I am amazed that there is so many thing involved being a hygienist. But I know that I can do this. I need to take one thing at a time. I think back to the time I was told that I would never get into the dental hygiene program and see how far I have came. It is amazing to me and I am so proud of my self for not letting any one tell me what I can and can not do.

Things that I am looking forward to... Giving the anesthesia and learning how to use all the different instruments.
I am doing much better on the reading.

Yesterday we got to practice probing on each other. I learned that walking strokes feels better then dragging the prob around the tooth to the Pt. It does not need much pressure to get the reading. I want to work on reading the col area.

How I am doing... I am catching on in clinic quickly, but need to do better in the reading. I need to set time a side for each class.
Goal... I need to work on the land marks and pronouning them.

In my reading and in clinic I learned when I am taking the Pt Blood pressure I need to feel how high I should pump and when I can not feel the pulse any more then I need to pump it up 20 more. I think that I am getting health history, but I am still worried about spelling everything correctly.

Yesterday I was able to go to mid-town clinic and help out for six hours. It was way different. It took me a little bit to get use to charting different. I was able to do some exams my self, which was way cool. I need to learn the terms better so that I can chart better.
